A Foundation you can build on

Getting a sense of the foundation that has been built prior to your arrival offers a lens through which you can see where your career may go within the organization.

Constellation

Constellation is a 40+ year old MPL Insurance organization supporting medical care teams nationwide with purpose-driven work. Constellation is an innovative, nimble, and entrepreneurial company. The organization is highly matrixed with a creative organizational structure that is purposefully designed to support immense collaboration cross-functionally.

History

Constellation was born out of a need to support caregivers with medical professional liability (MPL) insurance products that protect them from the risks inherent in their practice. In the 1970s and 1980s, MPL companies faced unprecedented challenges, and many were dropping coverage or simply exiting the business, leaving caregivers without insurance. Insurers faced a softening market, increasing expenses, consolidation of physician-owned companies, and a level of change unheard of in the history of health care. These pressures reduced their profitability and threatened their core business. Enter Constellation, a forming of partnerships with other MPL insurance companies (UMIA, MMIE, MMIC). The company boldly set out to provide better services and support to policyholders.

MPL Insurance

Constellation's solutions help customers, caregivers, reduce risk and support their care teams, because the firm believes that what’s good for care teams is good for business. As the category leader in MPL Insurance, Constellation offers true, sincere interest and intention to be the most innovative, technology-driven firm in the category. The executive leadership team has an extremely selective approach to hiring high-caliber senior leaders across all functions to drive the firm's overall success capitalizing in the marketplace.

Scale

With 140 employees, the organization continues to grow and scale in a healthy fashion. Constellation hired 20+ individuals in 2020 and headcount has consistently grown 20% year-over-year as of late. The firm's 2025 company-wide goal is to achieve $1B in market value and will do so via inorganic growth (M&A activity), and organic growth strategies including the reinvention of an end-to-end, digitally transformed customer experience coupled with the introduction of software-based "new ventures".

What Constellation Values Most

Innovation

Constellation's 5-year growth plan requires the critical need for fresh ideas, solutions, and technology expansion. Innovation is welcomed, and highly valued, at Constellation. Thought-leadership, advice, and counsel on how the organization may enhance its market position and protect its assets is of utmost importance today.

Relationships

Constellation is a matrixed environment with majority of executive leadership working cross-functionally in daily collaboration. Building collaborative relationships internally are critical to Constellation's culture and continued success.

Together For The Common Good

A mission. A purpose. A reason. Together for the common good is the foundation that Constellation stands on. As a leader in the MPL category, the firm is iconic in its position as a support system to medical professionals every day, in every way. Protecting these relationships and providing a truly differentiated experience internally and externally is critical to Constellation's continued growth and expansion in the marketplace.
