The Challenge
Superior Consulting Services, a Twin Cities’ based Microsoft technology integrator headquartered in Burnsville, MN, was eager to onboard a visionary President as it embarked on a well-defined growth journey. The firm’s three top executives and owners had significant tenure, but the firm was missing a seasoned executive with the capability to build a more modernized sales and business development model, while acting as the “face” of the firm. The most important component of the search initiative was identifying an executive leader who could drive strategy, vision, and revenue growth, but also offer tactical process-oriented recommendations and build an effective sales function within the healthy, but stagnant business.
Our Approach
Our principals spent time onsite at SCS’s home office with the executive ownership team including the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Creative Officer. This onsite experience allowed our team to get to know SCS’s business, value proposition, engaging culture, growth challenges, and the critical executive leadership gap that existed within their organization. It became evident that we needed to identify a seasoned, low-ego leader with the ability to drive business development, sales, and ultimately, strong revenue growth. We spent five days committed to research, sourcing a prospect chart of over two hundred accomplished VP, GM, and C-Suite leaders, experienced in technology integration, sales development, revenue generation, consulting services, and growing small-to-mid-sized technology or consulting companies.
The Results
After six weeks of diligent outreach and messaging, engaging with over two hundred leaders in the Twin Cities market, we met again with the ownership team at Superior Consulting to formally present a fully vetted shortlist of six very well-aligned top President-level candidate prospects. All six were selected for first round virtual interviews, and subsequently, three were selected for a second round panel interview with SCS staff members and outside consulting partners. Finally, the top candidate was invited onsite for final in-person meetings with the partners. The Superior Consulting Services ownership team was happy to make a compelling offer to their top candidate choice, who immediately accepted to join the firm.
